Beisser Lumber is a full service lumberyard providing Iowa builders and contractors with quality building products and services since 1953. Established in Fort Dodge Iowa , Beisser Lumber has expanded to include operations in Grimes (Des Moines Area) and Coralville/Iowa City. Beisser Lumber emphasizes complete customer service and continues to strive forward and expand on past performance.
In 1999, Beisser Lumber designed and constructed a contemporary new 57,800 square foot facility to accommodate the Des Moines branch. On 12 acres in Grimes Iowa, this facility contains a 16,000 square foot office/showroom and 41,800 square foot warehouse. The customer friendly showroom contains various product displays with sample material and literature along with a kids play room. At Beisser Lumber we believe that design and function are a complement in the continuing effort to improve the response to our clients needs.
On January 1, 2004, Beisser Lumber began the production of interior and exterior doors in a new 26,500 square foot building. The door plant, which is adjacent to the Grimes facility, produces a wide range of doors for single family, apartment, and commercial projects. By directly monitoring production we can guarantee product quality to our customers.
The door and trim/millwork facility needs have doubled since its initial construction. Now it is in need of more space for both departments. This growth has resulted in a third facility comprising the Grimes business site. The new 11,250 square foot trim/millwork building will allow greater production and specialization.
The door and trim buildings have enabled us to stock a variety of doors: exterior including steel, smooth and textured fiberglass from Masonite; interior doors including molded panel and wood flush from Masonite; and stile and rail wood doors from Woodport. Other products stored in this facility run the gamut: exterior decorator glass from Specialty Glass; exterior door frames from Endura Door Components; and exterior door cladding from Frontline.
Beisser's new door and trim buildings allows service to the customer by manufacturing a variety of custom sized doors, machining and labeling 20, 60, and 90 minute fire-rated doors, and providing a variety of finishes and door hinges.
There is a greater range of jamb species available to the customer for interior doors including oak, maple, pine, cherry and clay coat for painting. Trim species available are oak, maple, pine, cherry, poplar, and clay coat. Also stored in the new facilities are S4S boards available in a variety of species and widths plus L.J. smith stair parts in oak, maple, and cherry.
Beisser also offers Schlage and Weiser Locks, as well as making re-keying service available to our clients. This should give a brief overview of resources and services now available to customers attributable to our new facilities.
In the spring of 2005, Beisser Lumber completed construction of a new facility at our Coralville location. Built as a mirror image of the Grimes operation, this new facility allows Beisser Lumber to enhance our service in Iowa and the Midwest .
